Anyone who has manned the RNQG booth at outdoor town celebrations  and fairs where the guild promotes the raffle quilt knows that the tent is an important element!  Since the steps needed to put up the tent are not obvious, Carol has decided to host two training sessions at her home.

You need only attend one of the sessions.   If you plan to attend a training session, please RSVP to Carol through This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  Include the time slot you prefer and any additional people who will accompany you.  Carol will share her address when you RSVP.

Topic: "Finding My Creative Voice"

CollenMcFarlin

Colleen McFarlin is a modern quilter from Rhode Island.  Learning to sew at age 14,  her love affair with textiles progressed from the study of fashion design at a vocational high school  to  enrollment  at  the Savannah College of Art and Design where she earned a degree in Fibers.  She loves "exploring the limits of fabric... things that sparkle... french fries... and find[ing] the stories that surround the world around me."

This evening Colleen tells with us the story of her creative journey -- from where she started to where she is today.  She will show off several of her quilts  and share the lessons learned from each of them.

FindingHome

Colleen's quilts have been displayed in galleries from Seattle to Savannah.   Her quilt "Finding Home" won a third place ribbon at QuiltCon in 2016 (Flying Geese Challenge).  Her quilts have also appeared in two issues of Curated Quilts magazine

Colleen and her mother are co-owners of Beyond the Bolt, a modern quilt shop located in Bristol, RI.  She also has designed several quilt patterns that are available for purchase from her website.

Workshop  : Quilt Labels

Member Fee: $35            Non-Member Fee: $40DianaA Recent

During this 3-hour workshop, longtime RNQG member and award-winning professional quilter Diana Annis shares with class participants the way to design and create the important final element of our quilts:  the label!

"This is the last bit on your quilt that answers all the questions," says Diana. "It's the one piece of information that will tell your story in its entirety and is the one element most often deleted. I'll show you the who - what - why - where and when of making a creative, fun label. I believe this is the most important part of a quilt, besides finishing it! There are no limits to your creativity when it comes to a label. No size, shape, or concept limits. Just imagine!"
