Now that you have picked out your fabric it is time to cut, cut, cut! Make sure your rotary cutter has a new, sharp blade and that you are measuring accurately!
We would recommend labeling your pieces as this will make it easier during assembly. You can place cut fabrics in small plastic baggies and label them that way as well.
From the Complementary Fabric:
Cut 108 squares: 2 ⅜” x 2 ⅜” in matching sets of 4.
HELPFUL HINT: IF YOU CUT THE 2 ⅜” SQUARES TO 2 ½”. IT WILL MAKE IT EASIER TO CUT THE FLYING GEESE YOU WILL BE MAKING LATER IF THEY ARE A BIT BIGGER.
From the Focus Fabric:
Cut 27 squares: 3 ½” x 3 ½
These will be the center of your block. If you choose to do “fussy cutting” then fussy cut your fabric for these 3 ½” squares.
From the Light or Dark Solid fabric (background):
Cut 2 strips: 3 ½” x 42 ½”
AND 2 strips: 3 ½” x 54 ½”

This fabric must contrast with the background fabric. It could be from your complementary fabric or it could be something that works with your focus and/or complementary fabric.
