Topic: Designing Your Own Quilts
Have you ever tried to design a quilt? Have you changed the size of blocks or rearranged them in the layout? Do you choose your own fabrics for quilts? Does your stash help you to make a quilt? Are there favorite blocks that you would like to edit to make them your own?
Mary’s lecture this evening will address all of these aspects of quilting. The principals and elements of design are the roadblocks that transcend many disciplines like flower design, interior design and certainly quilting.
Mary Cannizzaro is a woman with a wealth of textile experience. She spent years working for high end interior designers as their drapery workroom specialist; designing commission quilts; quilting on domestic and long arm machines; and teaching classes.
In 2014, she and her daughter opened Cannizzaro Creations, a quilting studio in Rockland, MA. The duo began selling fabric, offering classes, and taking quilt commissions, with frequent requests for T-shirt quilts.
They collaborated on a number of designs that were different and more interesting than the usual squares-and-sashing layouts and ultimately released a book with C & T Publishing.
