Topic: Alternate Gridwork and Negative Space
Alternate gridwork…negative space… Are these good things? What do they mean to a quilter?
This evening, Amy Friend will define the two principles — key to modern quilting designs — during her trunk show. Her quilts contain examples of how she has experimented with the concepts over the past few years, from “just a touch” to “bold”. Her goal is to spark ideas that you can use when planning your own quilt layouts.
A museum-curator-turned-quilt-designer, Amy’s passion is modern quilts. She specializes in paper pieced designs. She is a national quilt teacher and lecturer, an award winning quilter, and has authored three quilting books: Intentional Piecing, Improv Paper Piecing, and Petal and Stem. Her quilts have been exhibited at a number of quilt shows as well as museums.
