Topic: "Finish with a Spiffy Binding"
With all the care and attention quilters give to piecing a quilt top and the quilting design, Janet Elia strongly believes that one should give as much thought to that final touch, the quilt binding. A beautiful quilt deserves a spiffy binding! Her slide show presentation this evening contains close-up examples of a multitude of binding styles, including Double-Fold, Knife Edge, Flange, Piped, and Beaded.
The included "show and tell" of several of Janet's quilts is sure to inspire all members of the audience!
A member of RNQG since 2006, Janet's quilts have always been colorful pieces done with precision. It's no wonder she is a ribbon-winner in local shows as well as prestigious shows at the national level!
PLEASE NOTE: Janet will return to Walpole in May to teach a workshop. Details can be found on the May 2025 calendar page.

Workshop: Crossed Canoes Member Fee: $65 Non-Member Fee: $75
It's rare to find a quilter who has tried their hand at paper piecing and is ambivalent about the process. According to David Sirota, "Paper piecing can be a quilter's challenge. There are so many ways to get it wrong, right?"
Fortunately for us, David has devised a "No More Tears Paper Piecing"© method that makes it easy to do, faster, and efficient. And he is willing and happy to share his secrets!
"Crossed Canoes" is a traditional block pattern, first published by the Ladies Art Company around 1895. The block itself is quite simple, a wonderful introduction to paper piecing. The real challenge of this project is quilt top assembly. Have you ever tried to make TWELVE pieces of fabric come together into a single point?
The Sirota method both guarantees precision and saves time!
Be sure to read the supply list well in advance of the workshop date -- some cutting and sewing are required prior to the class!
