<<WARNING>>: the lecture title has nothing to do with its content!

For many of our members,  David Sirota will be a familiar face as he was a pre-COVID lecturer and teacher at RNQG.   His irreverant style promises  to have guild members laughing this evening with his  eye-opening look at quilters and all the little quirks, passions and obsessions we  share. This evening we’ll hold a mirror up to ourselves and see what others see when they look at us within the context of Quilting Classes.

That’s right, we’re gonna laugh at who we are --  instructor included.   Are we the same kind of students in quilting classes as we were in school?  David admits he is.

Maybe this will help explain why others look at us the way they do.

David has been quilting since the early 1990’s  and thanks his friend Amy Fitzpatrick for teaching him quilting basics  and “Simply Quilts” for all of the information and instruction Alex Anderson and her guests provided. He felt like he was going to quilting school and tried not to miss a class.

HIs passion is paper piecing.  With this technique, one can execute intricate designs with accuracy that is not possible from either strip piecing or templates. Though he found the technique,  "really difficult to wrap my brain around, kinda like upside down and backwards",  the results were exciting once he understood the process,.

David began thinking about how to make paper piecing simpler and faster.  In 2004, he revealed his  “No More Tears  Paper Piecing”© method. It is easier to understand and takes less time than traditional paper piecing methodology.

PLEASE NOTE:   David will return to Walpole in April to teach a workshop.  Details can be found on the April calendar page.
